Entry #1: External thoughts and pressures of the world seem to disappear, and what is left is an awareness of my body and my mind.
My sessions with Emily are an exercise in the facilitation of re-centering my mind and body. Through the BodyTalk process, all of the external thoughts and pressures of the world seem to disappear, and what is left is an awareness of my body and my mind. As the session gets underway, I begin to feel an energy flow and connectedness to all parts of my body. Emily is able to verbalize and hone in on blockages of this energy flow, caused by external forces in my life, and my sense is that during the session, work is being done to re-align my mind/body energy flow, and remove these blockages in order to return the body to a state of balance. To me, this re-alignment is critical to healthy functioning of the body. It is my thinking that our bodies are created in a perfect design, with the necessary tools to maintain balance and health. However, the way we conduct our life, and the external environment that we interact with, tends to alter that balance. Everything that we do as we go about our lives, from the food we put in our body, to the people we choose to talk to throughout the day, to the work we choose to engage in, affects this balance in ways that are not always positive. The honing in on the imbalances caused by these interactions, and the re-alignment of mind/body energy that occurs for me during a Body/Talk session, is an extremely important part of my regimen for health and well being. Allowing the body to heal itself, rather than relying on the use of substances foreign to the body that only mask symptoms, is in itself a very comforting thought. In the words of Rene Descartes, “I think therefore I am.” This statement exemplifies the power behind the mind/body connection. If you learn to quiet your mind to all of the external distractions you encounter from day to day, and let go of old ideas and burdens collected over the years, and listen to your intuitive sense, believing in your body’s ability to heal and find balance, everything will flow more easily!

Entry #2: Permission to enjoy life
Permission-
Permission to be still
Permission to quiet the mind
Permission to let the body be in charge
Permission to trust the body to heal itself
Permission to let your inner compass chart the course
Permission to enjoy life
Throughout the BodyTalk session, Emily may mention the apparent yearning of the body to have the mind grant certain “permissions.” This usually relates to something currently going on in my life – but could also relate to some type of dormant or subliminal desire. Often, in our lives, it seems we arrange our minds, quite often to the detriment of our bodies, to follow a path that is less than the sum of our heart’s desires. This can occur for a multitude of reasons. We could do this to conform to a spouse’s desire, a parent’s desire, society’s desire, or responsibility’s desire. Regardless of the reason, it often leaves our mind and body in a state of imbalance. The intuitive nature of BodyTalk seems to be able to hone in on these longings of the total being, and works to re-align the mind’s thoughts with the workings of the body – freeing up all of the tension and toxicity of these two working against each other. These sessions, for me, continue to illuminate the power of the mind to control wellness.
Allow your mind to change. Give yourself the permission to be whole.

Entry #3: I felt a level of joy and excitement that I haven’t felt in a very long time.
This last BodyTalk session was very different than all of the previous sessions I have had. Usually, my body will release into a very restful state and my mind tends to quiet itself. During this past session, relaxation never came and I felt as if my mind was darting about in different directions. I was worried that I was doing something wrong, or that the session was not going well, but I woke up the next day with this amazing sense of clarity related to issues that Emily had touched upon. I have been struggling with several different issues, and during our session, Emily uncovered a perspective that literally opened the gate of clarity for me regarding decisions to be made. The perspective that she touched upon related to the involvement of fear in these issues. She suggested for a moment to remove that fear, and then reconsider. Fear can be a very healthy emotion, but it also has the ability to be extremely destructive and hold us back from some of life’s greatest joys. It can penetrate through the body like a wild fire. It starts in the mind, and then spreads its crippling grip to organs and muscles. It shows no mercy.
The morning after my session, I felt that the veil of fear had been lifted from my body, and the clarity with which I was able to reconsider decisions I was concerned about was nothing short of awesome. I felt a level of joy and excitement that I haven’t felt in a very long time. Throughout the rest of the day, I also felt as if my body was experiencing a continual purging of fear on multiple levels. I noticed this in my breath, my mood, and my digestion.
So, again, the intuitive powers of BodyTalk, and Emily’s ability to conduct these sessions, has blown me away. Having went through the session being worried that I was too distracted or not relaxed enough, I know now to accept that all is the way it should be, and that I have to trust my body to know what’s right.
It’s funny, we as humans, demand this basic quality, trust, in all of our most important relationships. We demand it in the relationship with our partner, or spouse. We demand it in our friendships and work relationships. We demand it of just about everyone that plays a meaningful role in our lives. That being said, I find it interesting that we have such a hard time trusting our body to know what is right for ourselves. For me, BodyTalk is a means to develop that relationship of trust.
Thank you!
